Your 2 day desert tour from Marrakech begins early in the morning when your driver picks you up directly from your hotel. Departing the red city, you head south toward the High Atlas Mountains, climbing through dramatic switchbacks to reach the famous Tizi n’Tichka pass at over 2,200 meters  one of the most scenic mountain roads in all of Morocco.

The first stop of the day is the Kasbah of Telouet, the crumbling yet magnificent former palace of the powerful Glaoui family. Hidden in the mountains, this rarely visited gem is a fascinating window into Morocco’s recent history and a highlight of any Marrakech 2 day desert tour.

From Telouet, the road descends toward the plains and leads to the UNESCO-listed Ksar of Aït Benhaddou   a breathtaking fortified village of earthen towers and labyrinthine alleys that has served as a backdrop for countless films and television productions. You stop here for a guided walk through the ksar before continuing through Ouarzazate, the so-called Hollywood of Africa.

After Ouarzazate, the landscape shifts as you enter the Anti-Atlas and pass through the quiet village of Agdez, marking your arrival into the legendary Draa Valley. Morocco’s longest valley stretches before you in a stunning procession of date palm oases, mud-brick villages, and ancient fortified kasbahs rising from the desert floor. You follow the valley south, soaking in the scenery and stopping at points of interest along the way.

By late afternoon you reach Zagora. After a brief stop in town, you continue to the edge of the dunes where your camel is waiting. A sunset camel trek carries you into the Sahara, arriving at your desert luxury camp as the sky turns to amber and violet. Dinner is served around the campfire as traditional Berber music and folklore fill the night air. You retire to your comfortable furnished tent beneath a brilliant canopy of desert stars.
